Preparing for Wild Camping
We did not realise how cold it would be in Scotland! Considering the week before it was 18C and sunny, we figured we were in for lovely weather. Unfortunately for us there was an arctic blast and we had to endure temperatures as low as 1C. Lucily we packed everything we needed for a cold weather adventure so we survived!
Tips for Wild Camping in Scotland
- Pick up some precooked meats from Tesco. We grabbed some BBQ chicken and some ham etc. It’s a great option if you have terrible weather because you can still eat a substantial meal without having to cook from scratch.
- Do not forget a flashlight. This was the MVP in the evenings especially trying to find things in the tent!
- If you are cooking in a secluded area, make sure you leave it as you found it or better. Do not leave any litter around your camp site, carry everrything with you.
- Make sure you have a wine opener or bottle opener before you get off the beaten track, there’s nothing worse than buying a bottle of wine and getting to an amazing campsite and not be able to drink it. The struggle is real!
